Louis’ Obituary
Sir Louis O’Connell – Age 100, of La Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, formerly of Saulnierville, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side in La Villa on Friday, September 17, 2021. Born in Amiraults Hill, he was a son of the late John and Lea (Saulnier) O’Connell.
Louis was a carpenter during all of his working life; a career which brought him to Halifax, the Northern parts of our country, back to Halifax and, finally, to his hometown of Clare where he retired. He was also a proud 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Andrew (Maureen), North Carolina; Louise Melanson (Mike), Beaver River; Susan O’Connell (Alan), Saulnierville; grandchildren, Brian, Julie, Ben, Melissa and Evan; great-grandchildren, Kristie, Danielle, Jordan, Jessica, Emma Rose, Hunter, Emily, Haley, Isabella “Bella”, Logan, Adrian and Javier.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose; grandsons, Marc and Gabriel; brother, George.
Visitations will be held in Meteghan Funeral Home Tuesday, September 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where Covid-19 provincial guidelines will be followed. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a private funeral mass will be held in Église Sacré-Coeur, Saulnierville, with Rev. Mathieu Agbaya officiating. Burial is to follow in the parish cemetery.
