Obituary
Lorraine Thomson (Nee Churchill) 1943-2021
The brightest of stars has left our sky! We are sad to announce that on December 24th, 2021 our beautiful mother took her final breath! We have all cried a house full of tears but only because she was loved so much. Mom’s health had been in steady decline over the last couple of years. Still, her passing was sudden. We knew it was coming but it showed up earlier than expected. If you knew Mom, you know it is like her to want to pass on Christmas Eve, just to be sure we would never forget her, and we never will! It was her favorite season. She loved to celebrate and “giving” was her specialty. She loved making bread, cherry cakes, date crumbles and almost any other kind of cake and cookie you could think of, not just at Christmas but all through the year. However, at Christmastime, family, friends, neighbors, doctors and even strangers were often gifted the amazing baked goods she produced. She would spread joy everywhere she went. Everything was a game and there were always prizes! There were Christmas presents all wrapped and stored in closets from floor to ceiling, and for more people than most of us would think to buy for. She loved to make people happy and she was exceptional at doing it. She was a hugger. She didn’t much care if you were not. If she wanted a hug, you were getting one! She thrived on people, on company, on entertaining and bringing people together. She always had the brightest outlook on life and her sense of humor was intact right up until the end. Her remarkable life has left us with a huge void, but we will try to fill it with all of the beautiful things she brought to us with her own. Humor, compassion, empathy, unity, forgiveness and love. What a legacy she leaves behind and we are so glad she has left it with us.
