Lorraine Emberley

Lorraine Emberley September 21 1936 – December 8 2021

On December 08, 2021, Lorraine Emberley, aged 85 years, passed gently and peacefully away in the presence of her devoted and loving family. She went to her rest from a place filled to the rafters with love and precious memories, her own home in Southern Harbour, where she raised a large and devoted family with her beloved husband.
Lorraine is predeceased by her loving husband, Mike; infant daughter, Linda; and son, Jimmy. She is also predeceased by her parents, Berkley and Theresa Williams, great great grand-daughter, Jade Williams and siblings: Anastasia, Geraldine, Anna, Bernadette, Jack, Berkley and Carmel.
Lorraine was a loving and devoted mother, and she will be so deeply missed by her adoring children: Eugene (Marg), Juanita (Paul), Nancy (Barry), Sylvia (Wayne), Randy (Chrissy), Joey (Wanda), Mikey (Patricia), Maxine (Scott), Berkley (Reenie) and Darlene (Dan) and her long line of grandchildren, great grand children and even one great great grandchild; and brother Pete Williams. It is no surprise that there is more than one character thrown in amongst this brood as Lorraine’s keen wit and lively sense of humor is alive and well in both children and grandchildren alike. Lorraine also leaves behind her dear friend, Nora Emberley, with whom she shared many afternoons drinking tea and going for drives around the harbour. She was loved and respected by her many nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of extended family and friends, including her many neighbors in the Back Cove and friends throughout the harbour who stopped for a yarn or honked their horn.
Lorraine battled Alzheimer’s Disease over the last nine years of her life, but through it all, her warmth, love and humor proved to be a constant force that not even that most relentless of diseases could destroy. She could dance a jig like no other and wherever she went, by car, by chair or by scooter, she brought joy, laughter, and sometimes a hint of mischief – all for good fun.
Visitation will be held at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Arnold’s Cove on Saturday, December 11, and Sunday, December 12, from 10 AM – 12 PM, 2 PM – 4 PM and 7 PM – 9 PM daily. A brief reflection, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Church in Southern Harbour on Monday, December 13, 10:15 AM, with Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Southern Harbour.
Gardening was Lorraine’s passion and flowers brought her much joy; her favourite place in the world was out there in the garden where neither weather nor disability could stop her from doing what she loved. Therefore, flowers are gratefully accepted, but due to severe allergies, please do not include red roses.
In keeping with COVID regulations, Vax Passes will be required for entry to the Funeral Home in Arnold’s Cove, masks are required and anyone wishing to attend the funeral service should contact Darlene at 728-2331.
Finally, the family wishes to thank all those who cared for Lorraine in the last years of her life. This includes the staff and management of the Hilltop Manor whose hearts she won over from the onset; Frances, Ashley and Karen who provided help to Lorraine’s girls at home; and Dr. Fowlow and Community Health Nurse, Melinda for their guidance and compassion. We, the family, appreciate every act of kindness shown to mom, and to us, over these last difficult years.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lorraine Emberley
