BROWN, Lorne
Nov 24, 1930 – Jan 2, 2021
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Lorne Brown in his 91st year on January 2. He leaves in mourning his wife of 62 years Micheline (Villeneuve), and his loving children Gary (Shelley), Joanne (Rob), and Susan (Carl), along with grandchildren, Leslie (Taylor), Robert, Erin, Michael, Ryan, Lauren, Jamie, and great-granddaughter Carmen.
Born in Quebec City, he is predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Brown, sisters Helen, Vivian, Lois, Winnie, Betty, Mae and Jean, and brothers Robert, Fred, and Tommy along with their spouses as well as his granddaughter Kathleen. Survived by his older brother Paul and his sister-in-law Jeanine (Tommy). He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
After a ten year career with IBM in the sixties, he went on to enjoy the next 25 years of his work life as a Canadian Tire Dealer in Montreal and Ottawa until his retirement in 1998. His favorite memories of Canadian Tire were of his devoted employees, his personal relationships with fellow dealers, and people from “the Corporation”. Lorne and Micki travelled the world with many of these people who remained good friends over the years.
Those who knew him well will remember Lorne for his love of sports, politics, quick wit, his beloved Notre-Dame Fighting Irish, and support of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club since its origins at the Breaker’s Resort in 1990.
While his greatest joy was being a loving son and sibling to his large Irish Catholic family of Browns, and Uncle Lorne to his many nieces and nephews, his proudest accomplishment was his own family that he built in love with Micheline.
Due to Covid, a memorial mass for extended family and friends will be held at a later summer date at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Ottawa Heart Institute, and the Saint Elizabeth Foundation.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Lorne Brown Saturday January 2nd 2021..
