The Congregation of the Resurrection announces the death of Father Lorford (Lory) Andrew Keasey, CR on April 27, 2021 of North Fort Myers, Florida. He was 85 years old, in his 60th year of religious life and 56th year of ordained priesthood.
Father Keasey is predeceased by his parents Stanford and Loretta (Hutchins) Keasey and Robert Olds (stepfather) and a half brother Dr. Robert Olds. He is survived and lovingly remembered by a number of nephews and cousins.
Father Keasey professed his religious vows in the Congregation on September 8, 1960 in Dundas and was ordained to the ministerial priesthood on May 30, 1964. He began his ministry as the Parochial Vicar of St. Agatha Parish, St. Agatha and then at St. Mary’s Parish, Kitchener. From 1969 to 1971, Fr. Lory served as Administrator for St. Mary’s Parish. In 1972 he was assigned as Pastor of St. Mary’s and then acted as Pastor of St. Aloysius Parish, Kitchener for nine years. Fr. Keasey returned as Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in 1982 for the next eleven years. In 2005, Fr. Lory retired to North Fort Myers, Florida. Fr. Keasey held a variety of leadership roles in the Congregation including House Superior for St Mary’s and Florida/Villa Pacis Religious Houses, one term as a Provincial Councillor, Assistant Provincial Superior for three months in 1993, and then taking on the role of Provincial Superior completing Fr. Sudie MacDonald’s term in 1996. Fr. Lory then completed three terms as Provincial Superior. Fr. Lory was a member of a number of committees within the Congregation. He was active in the community acting as District Moderator for K.W. Catholic Youth Organization and as Dean of the Waterloo Deanery. A man of deep faith, hope and love Father Lory’s life of faithful service touched the lives of his parishioners, brother religious, and family during his life of dedicated ministry.
We wish to thank Linda Olson of North Fort Myers, Florida. Linda ensured that Father Lory received excellent medical care, and that he was not alone during his final days.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s RC Church, 56 Duke St. W, Kitchener on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener to follow. Arrangements entrusted to the Henry Walser Funeral Home.
