Lloyd Garner Wednesday December 8th 2021

Garner, Lloyd
At the age of 81, passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2021. He was the only boy and youngest of five, and his sisters used to kid around that he was the ‘spoiled one’. During his teenage years, Lloyd worked with his Mother and Father at their deli store.
As a young man, he worked a few odd jobs before finding his career in truck driving. He worked hard for many years and took pride in his trucks, delivering product through tough snow storms and working long hours. Lloyd was a dedicated family man, and in his younger years enjoyed gardening during the summer months. He moved briefly to Florida, where he took on ownership of a plant nursery. Missing his Canadian roots, he moved back to Ontario, where he eventually became a school bus driver and as he called it (dismissing his own advanced age) – “a driver for the old people”, where he would take them to their shopping trips.
Lloyd was a devoted and loving father, who loved his children dearly and unconditionally, and would do anything for them. He was a jovial, fun-loving man, always joking and laughing, and telling stories from the past. He dreamed big, always talking about buying a horse or chicken farm, to owning a bed and breakfast. In his later years he enjoyed the casino and visits from his daughter in Florida, as well as his granddaughter Melonie and her family.
Lloyd leaves behind beloved daughter Julie Anne McGready (Mark), and son Bruce Garner (Cathy). He will also be missed greatly by his grandchildren; Christine McGready, Melonie Beck (Josh), Stephen McGready, Sterling Garner (Baleigh) and Samantha Garner. He also leaves behind 5 wonderful great grandchildren (Blake, Bria and Blair Beck and Ryker & Paxton Garner). Lloyd was preceded in passing by his parents, Lloyd Sr. & Ethel Garner, and sisters, Lilian, Jean, Betty, and Honey. Deep heart filled thanks go out to his caregivers at Caressant Care Woodstock, in particular Agatha.
Very special thanks to his granddaughter Melonie, who was always there for her grandfather, and selflessly gave of her time and efforts. Thank you also to Josh, Sterling and Baleigh for their help. An intimate funeral will be held at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, Fonthill. Those that wish to view the service via live-stream may do so by o the Funeral Home’s Facebook page the day of the service at 10:00 am.
Dad and Papa, we’ll miss you so much, but we know you’re in a better place. Rest in peace.
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.” —2 Thessalonians 3:16
