Jan. 21, 1928 ~ Nov. 16, 2021
Peacefully, mom left us to be with her Lord and Saviour. She was predeceased by her husband Eric; son Tim and his wife Cheryl; son David; parents Katie and Henry Alpers; brothers Harvey and Burt; and sister Vera. Left to mourn her passing are her children Kent (Vicki), Kathy (Erwin), Judy, Joan, and Deanne; her thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law Lois; and her best friends Erica Pommer and Anne Besel.
Mom was born in Whitemouth and became a teacher at a very young age, working at Lonely Dale School and substituting at River Hills School. She met Eric at a Hungry Nine baseball game; they married and raised their seven children on the farm in River Hills. Mom loved her fishing and gardening, especially her flowers and her raspberry patch. Her passion was crosswords and playing cards and boardgames with her kids and grandkids. She was a devoted congregant of the Whiteshell Baptist Church and an active member of the “Golden Girls.” The one trait she instilled in all her children was a great sense of humour.
The family thanks the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home and the Pinawa Hospital for Mom’s care over the years, as well as Pina and Gary Tirschman for helping the family care for her when she lived in their apartment. Due to COIVD-19 restrictions, cremation has already taken place, and a private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Whiteshell Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice.
