Obituary
Linda Lou Dawson
Dec 15th 1946- Aug 23, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda on Aug 23 after a courageous and dignified fight with corticobasal degeneration. With her best friend beside her she passed peacefully. She worked with UBC to bring attention to this very rare disease and help with their research.
Born in Windsor Ontario, she was the oldest of 4 children of Thelma (Marshall) and Lou Dawson. She is survived by her sisters Jane Dawson, Evelyn Goshko, and brother Glen Dawson. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She made many friends during her working careers at the Royal Bank in Parksville and at Service Canada in Nanaimo. She will be remembered by many for her compassion and empathy for the underdog, always zeroing in on those who needed help. The love of her life was her dog “Emily” whom she was looking forward to being reunited with along with family and friends that have gone before her.
Many thanks to the caring nurses at Dufferin Place who became her family and lifeline for the past year.
Rest in Peace dear one, you are loved and will be remembered and sorely missed by the many whose lives you have touched.
One of her great passions was protecting and helping the animals, so for friends and family who would like to honor her, she would love you to donate to North Island Recovery Center in Errington, BC
Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church – 100 Chapel St, Nanaimo, B.C. on October 2nd, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
