Linda Boutilier Oram 2021

Linda Oram
Florence
We regret to announce the passing of Linda Junell Oram, 73, of Florence, on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, after a brief entry, following many days and nights of care at home.
She grew up and lived her life in Florence, with close ties to Little Pond, Cape Breton County. She was the daughter of the late Lorne and Irene (Graham) Boutilier. She is remembered for an incredible career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with tenures in several areas of medicine, following her graduation from the Nova Scotia Sanatorium in Kentville, Nova Scotia [class of ‘67]. Notably, were her eight years in blood lab and collection and a reputation for having ‘never missed a vein’. She exuded her passion to help people and make change via her involvement in the LPN Association of Nova Scotia (Treasurer from 1989-1996), advocating for others as union rep (CBRT&GW, now CAW). She also gave her time to the Status of Women Committee, when not being a mom, wife, friend, and someone present for everyone, everywhere, all the time, giving of herself seemingly without limit. She was an avid member of the Baddeck Quilt Guild, part of which was about quilting and always about friendship, and also was as a member of Wilson United Church and later Carman United Church.
She is remembered for her desire to help others without fail, a happy smile and her vibrant example of what it is to be a strong woman. These qualities, she personified every day of her life in the many roles she played, though perhaps her favorite was as card shark and grandma. Linda is survived by her husband Joe, Florence; son Lorne, Ottawa, granddaughter Jessica, Ottawa and sister-in-law Nancy Caldwell, Little Pond., and a plethora of friends, too many to mention or name – you know who you are.
She was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Irene (Graham) Boutilier and infant sister, Lorraine.
Gracious thanks are extended to all of the compassionate staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, oncology department, family doctor and various helping agencies. You are all so appreciated. At her wishes, there will not be a visitation or funeral, but rather a graveside service at a later date to be determined at Brookside Cemetery, Sydney Mines. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
Lorne says: “Hug your Mom today.”
