Lina Estelle MacMillan 2021

Leaving us with full hearts and fond memories, Lina MacMillan slipped away peacefully to be with her husband on November 12th, 2021 after 100 beautiful years of life.
Lina was born August 5th, 1921 to Albert and Dellamen Chevigny in Plamondon, AB – the town founded by her grandfather. Though her sense of responsibility was strong with her brothers and sisters, she also developed her keen sense for getting into trouble at a young age – a sense she would maintain up until her last days with us, and a sense her husband, Collin, would be quite aware of. She and Collin first met in St. Albert, Alberta, when Lina was 14 years old. They went to a St. Patrick’s Day Dance in Morinville, AB in March 1942 (21 yrs), got engaged soon after and married July 2nd,1942. Thereafter came three more to the family: Colleen, Wayne and Karen. Lina was a loving mother and wife, and held family and God very close to her heart. As she became a grandmother, great-grandmother and even great-great-grandmother, she passed many of her best and most enjoyable qualities and lessons to her descendants (all of whom she spoiled). Almost stronger than her sense for trouble, was her taste of sweets, which she also passed down. Her house would always be full of delicious goodies, frequently kept in an array of margarine containers.
Lina will be remembered by her friends and family for her tenderness, her generosity, her resilience, her infectious laughter, her wicked sense of humour, her piano-playing, her clumsiness, her infinite repertoire of stories, her chatterbox, her sunglasses and her ever-standing index finger.
Lina (aka Gramma) will be lovingly remembered & dearly missed by her children Colleen, Wayne & Karen (Jerry); granddaughters Tammy (Gord) & Tanya (Alan); great granddaughters Meagan (Steven), Mandy, Kyrsti (Johnny), Kali (Anthony), Taylor; great-great-granddaughter Makena; sister Rita as well as numerous loved nieces, nephews & friends.
Lina was predeceased by Collin, her husband of 36 years, as well as her parents, brothers & sister, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Min Zhu, Rebecca Colbourne and the caring staff from Unit 1, Youville Home.
There will be a private family mass for Lina on November 19, 2021 at 10:30 am. Please click here to view the livestream of the service.
We ask that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
