Leopold (Joseph) Collette
April 7, 1943 ~ August 18, 2021
Moncton, NB ~ Leopold, 78, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021.
Leopold was a much-loved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin. He was born on April 7, 1943 in Bouctouche to the late Néri Collette of Bouctouche and the late Léa (Lascenaire) of Bouctouche.
When you met Leopold, you could quickly see he had a huge heart and wonderful quick wit and sense of humour. He loved to make others laugh and help his community with countless hours of volunteer. Leopold was a great florist and cook, very artistic and caring. He loved children and to tease the ones he loved the most. He loved traditional music, to dance and socialize. He quickly knew how to light up a room. He wasn’t shy to introduce himself and make conversation with strangers. He wanted to make sure people were treated equally. Most of all, he loved his son and his grandchildren dearly. They were his world.
Leopold faced many serious health challenges over the past few years, facing each challenge with a quiet resolve and positive attitude. Sadly, it was too much for his worn-out body.
Leopold was unique, funny and a wonderful person who we will miss and treasure within our memories every day. We will always remember him by “la vie est belle” or ‘’toujours de bonne humeur?’’ regardless of the day he was having or how much pain he was in.
May he now rest in peace at last in heaven, where we will one day again meet.
Leopold will be dearly missed by his son, Denis (Shelli) and his grandchildren: Kianna and Kody.
He will also be missed by his brothers: Dolland of St-Antoine, Jean-Eudes & Claude both of Bouctouche and by his sisters: Donalda Collette, Aldora Collette both of Bouctouche and Fernande LeBlanc of Waltham, Mass. He was a much-loved uncle to his nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: Isaie, Yvon and Leo; his sisters: Dora McDonald, Léa Richard, Irene Cotton, Yvonne Leger and Beatrice LeBlanc.
Visitation will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 2pm until time of celebration of life at Passage Chapel at 4 pm. (with a maximum of 60 people).
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
