Obituary
Charbonneau, Leopold (1934-2021). It is with profound sadness that the Charbonneau family announces the passing of our beloved father and grandfather at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, in his 86 th year, with family by his side.
Leo was the son of the late Sylvio and Blanche (Lacroix) Charbonneau. He was pre-deceased by hisbeloved wife, Micheline (2019) and his daughter, Leona (2008). He is survived by his two sons, Alain (Kelly) and Andy (Lynn). He will also be missed by his 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Kelli, Brett, Renee and Victoria. Leo is survived by his siblings Alphege (Therese) Charbonneau, Don (Bea) Charbonneau, Patsy (Paul – deceased) and in-laws, Simone Lafleur (Armand “Red” Charbonneau – deceased), Edgar (Brenda) Emmell, Joyce (Bob- deceased) Emmell, Raymond (Sylvia) Emmell. Also pre-deceased by brother in law Rene Emmell.
Leo knew the value of a hard day’s work. His work life took him in many directions, from driving transport, owner of the BP gas station/restaurant at the “Y” in Kirkland Lake, to working for the Murdoch Group as Manager of Tilden/National Car Rental locations in Rouyn and North Bay until his retirement in 1992. Leo and his wife Micheline enjoyed their many years of travelling around the world and multiple cruises. Many stories and fond memories of get togethers with family and friends at their lakeside home filled his later years. He obtained his 4 th Degree with the Knights of Columbus, was a member of Richelieu and a member of the SKAL.The family of
Leo would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the care team of C3 at NBRHC and to the amazing palliative care team of the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, who supported him on the last part of his journey. It is in these unusually difficult times, where you find extraordinary moments of kindness and compassion. He could not have been in better hands.
