Obituary For Leonard Yaceyko
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard Yaceyko, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the QEII Hospital.
He left this world surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with ALS.
Len was born on April 25, 1949 at Vilna, Alberta. He married his wife Louise in 1970. In 1971, with their newborn son Brad, they transferred to Grande Prairie from Edmonton where Len worked at Eecol Electric. In the next few years two more children came into the family, a daughter Leslie and another son, Patrick.
Len worked at Prairie Truck and Trailer for a number of years at H&M Meats and at Ed Pardell Sand and Gravel until his retirement.
Len loved the outdoors. Camping, hunting and fishing were his passions. His happy place was at the cabin near Spirit River, Alberta. There he could take the kids and grandkids fishing in the dugout or show them all the quadding trails through the bush. “Don’t go in the mud!” was commonly heard but rarely done.
Len loved hunting and enjoyed all the time he could with his great “Hunting Buddies”.
He will now be able to watch over us with his favorite four legged friends, Molson and Hunter that passed before he did. He will be telling us where to look for the deer and elk.
Len is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Louise, son Brad (Kristen), daughter Leslie and son Patrick, grandchildren Carter, Abbie, Nash, Addison and Kyler, father Metro Yaceyko, brothers Ron (Peggy) Yaceyko, Terry (Terri) Yaceyko and Richard (Evelyn) Yaceyko, sister Elaine Allen, brother-in-law Toni (Chris) Selzler, sisters-in-law Carol Mandzie and JoAnne Fisette, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Len was predeceased by his step grandson Avery Stoetzel and his mother Sophie Yaceyko.
