Obituary for Leonard Shognosh
Leonard Wayne Shognosh, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully in Chatham on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 70. Leonard is the son of the late Nelson & Eleanor (Shipman) Shognosh Sr.. Beloved husband of Elaine (Kicknosway). Loving father of Eva Thomas, Leela Thomas (Christopher), Harvey Shognosh (Billie Jo), Pahdahsung Shognosh (Tasia) and the late Duncan Thomas (Amy). Dear grandfather of Joey, Preston, Jayden, Duncan Jr., Larissa, Aedin, Dawson, Wehnehbah, Harvey Jr., Cora, Lila, Tia and Lake. Predeceased by his brothers Nelson ‘Sugar Bear’, Harvey and Charles Shognosh. Len will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Leonard had worked at Eaton-Yale in Wallaceburg and in construction in Michigan. His passions were billiards, traditional drumming & singing and long distance running. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Friday, March 26 from noon – 4 PM and on Saturday from noon – 3 PM. A private family funeral will be held at a later date.
