Obituary for
Leonard Earl Spears
Spears, Leonard Earl – Age 64 of Bible Hill, passed away on October 25, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. He was born in Sheet Harbour, NS, to the late Duncan and Teresa (Behie) Spears.
Lenny is survived by his beloved and devoted dance partner, Dianne (Dewar) Spears; his son, Andrew (Amber) Spears, North River; stepsons, Jon (Rie) Clark, Japan and Jason Clark, Bible Hill; his cherished grandchildren, Aiden & Asher Spears, Molly & Emma Clark and Liam Clark; his brothers, Tim (Lisa) and Arty (Crystal); nephews, Duncan and Jason and nieces, Gillian and Shelby.
Besides his parents, Lenny was predeceased by his brothers, Graham and Kevin and stepson, Pony Clark.
Lenny worked for 28 years at the Colchester Regional Hospital as the Resource Facilitator. He loved his job and always came to work with a new joke to keep the staff smiling. Lenny’s job also filled his need to help people. This is something that he was passionate about. He was the first one to step forward to organize a fundraising event for anyone in need, lend a hand to a friend or volunteer his time for a worthy cause.
Lenny was known as the “Music Man”. He was always involved in and organized many of the music events in Truro from the Tulip Festival to many of the Canada Day events. In the early years, Lenny could be found volunteering at Hubtown Theatre. He was an instrumental part of this organization. He would build sets, run the sound systems or be part of the production. His love for music and dancing was something that motivated him in everything he did.
Lenny was a very diverse man and when music was not on the agenda, then you could find him in the garage tinkering on a friend’s vehicle or building his wooden treasures.
One of Lenny’s greatest loves was his dear Dianne, they found each other later in life, but their love for each other and the little things, made them a perfect match. When Lenny was well, they had many adventures and made sure they danced. Dianne had found her “Fred Astaire.” He spent much time in the hospital in the last few years and there wasn’t a day that went by that she wasn’t there to support him.
Lenny will be remembered as a very loving and caring man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He would have given everything he had to anyone who needed it.
The family would like to thank all of the dedicated staff at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. They always went above and beyond.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 2 – 7pm at 37 Ryland Ave, Bible Hill, NS. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.ColchesterCommunity.com
