It is with heavy hearts that the McKernan family announces the passing of our beloved Leo.
Leo will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Loretta; seven children: Michael (Tara) McKernan, Sheila McKernan, Connie (Terry) Huff, Pat (Larry) Jordan, Darcy McKernan, Rosanne (Russ) Morrison, John (Sandra) McKernan; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and acquaintances.
He is predeceased by eight siblings and his great-grandson Solace Erskine.
Leo was born in Alliance, Alberta before moving to Edmonton, where he married Loretta May Rogerson. They recently had the honour of celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary. Leo spent his career working 37 years at Northwestern Utilities. After retirement, he volunteered time with the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, as well as driving for Lakewood Chevrolet. He was an exceptional golfer and curler, and a great storyteller. He had an impressive presence; you always knew when he was in a room due to his ability to connect and laugh with people. His memory was second to none, with the ability to recall the smallest details.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leo’s honour to the Marian Centre. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Those unable to attend in person can watch a livestream of the service by clicking here.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Leo McKernan 2021..
