LEO GIONET
of Burk’s Falls and formerly of Atholville, New Brunswick
Peacefully, surrounded by family at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Saturday April 24, 2021. Leo Gionet, beloved husband of the late Irene Gionet (nee Thibodeau) and dear companion of Yvonne Cleveland, was in his 87th year.
Loving father of Joanne Gionet (Murray Caldwell), Denise Arnold (Greg), Mike Gionet (Cindy), Diane Parkes (Tim) and predeceased by son Lionel Gionet and daughter Pierette Caldwell.
Leo is the beloved Grandpa/Poppa of many grandchildren and great grandchildren, he is survived by his brothers Guy (Therese) and Ralph of Atholville NB, his sister Carmen (Henri) of Pointe-a-la-Croix QC and sister in law Auralie Blaquiere of Atholville NB.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service to celebrate the life of the late Leo Gionet will be conducted in the Opatovsky Funeral Home-Dempster Chapel in Burk’s Falls on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Doreen Mason DLM officiating. For those wishing to attend virtually, a Zoom link will be available by emailing a request to dempster@opatovskyfuneralhome.com by 12pm Tuesday April 27, 2021.
If desired, in lieu of flowers donations to the Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
PLEASE NOTE: As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario attendance numbers will be restricted (10). COVID-19 protocols are in place and masks are mandatory.

  1. I wish to send my sincerest sympathies to all of the family. Many hugs and prayers for the sudden loss of your Dad. I’m pleased that he was able to be with all of you in his final days. I will always remember him and his smile. Love you all, take care and be safe.
