Obituary
On Monday, March 22, 2021 Lena Marie Simonne (neé Dubé) Plamondon of Lac La Biche, AB, formerly of Plamondon, AB, passed away at the age of 89.
Lena is survived by daughter Céleste (John) Zurbrigg of Edmonton, son Maurice (Susan née Reimer) Plamondon of Lac La Biche, grandchildren Allyson, Ashley (Joanne), Michelle (Justin), great-grandchild Hannah and Rosa Leena, sister-in-law Marie (née Plamondon) Dubé of Lac La Biche, nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Lena is predeceased by husband Albin Romeo Plamondon, parents Arthur Jr and Sylvia (née Gagnon) Dubé, siblings Oral (Jeanne née Limoges) Dubé, Little Lena, Alvena Dubé, Edgar Dubé, Edmond (Anita née Gauthier) Dubé.
She lived in various places in and around Plamondon. She especially enjoyed her 28 years on the homesteaded family farm by the Lac La Biche River. Over the years, she participated in several community organizations and projects, with some roles being a vice-president, typist and treasurer.
Lena sewed many clothes for her family. Her creative outlet was also applied to ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and macramé over the years. She knitted sweaters for all members of the family, with the grandchildren receiving several over the years as they grew. On one occasion, as a surprise, the family organized themselves to show up wearing the sweaters she had given them. They all had fun watching her reaction as she gradually realized what they had done. She was also known as a wonderful cook and baker. It was always a treat to see what new animal cut-out cakes she would make.
Lena was a wonderful mother, and delighted in her grandchildren and great-grand children. Due to the Covid restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be planned later, together with her sister, Alvena Dubé, who recently passed away.
The family wishes to thank Lacalta Lodge, Alberta Health Services Home Care, and lastly Long-Term Care, for the many years of care.
