Lena Martha Kaulback
1925-2021
Kaulback, Lena
Martha, 95 of Truro, passed away peacefully
on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born in New
Germany, Lunenburg County, on February 22, 1925, she was the daughter
of the late Archibald and Hattie (Cole) Oickle. She is survived by her
four daughters, Jewell Crowe, Marsha (David) Johnston, Kathy Kaulback
(Pat Cook), and Cindy (Greg) Johnson (all of Truro), five
grandchildren, Michael (Angela) Johnston, Crissy Crowe (John Chapman),
Stephanie Johnson, Brian (Allison) Johnson, Mitchell (Amy) Johnson,
and eight great-grandchildren, Sarah, Samuel, Matthew, Abby, Jacob,
Molly, Emma, and Brielle. She was the last surviving member of her
family. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 66 years,
Clarence and siblings Beatrice, Ernest, Reginald, Elsie and
granddaughter Lisa Crowe. After she and Dad married, they moved to
Riversdale for a few years where Dad worked in the woods. They then
moved to Salmon River and built our family home where they lived their
entire lives raising us 4 girls. Life was simple but full of
love and happiness. Mom’s quick wit and feisty
remarks made her a very special person. She opened her doors
to many friends and relatives over all those memorable years.
She was truly blessed with good health and lived in that
very same home until this past March. She was a member of Brunswick
Street United Church in Truro. Mom loved her family. She enjoyed
knitting, game shows and animals of all kinds. She
especially loved ‘Muffin Day’ on Tuesdays, and any
time the family would get together. We were her world and she was
ours. Special thanks to Rev John Parsons for his visits to Mom, VON
Home Care, and to the staff at Vimy Court for the excellent care and
compassion shown to her during a time where family visits were
restricted. You took over when we couldn’t do it
any longer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where a private family
service will be held on Sunday, January 31st at
2pm, (web-casting to begin at 1:55pm) with Rev. John Parsons
officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Hill
Cemetery, Brunswick Street United Church in Truro or a charity of your
choice. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by
viewing Lena’s obituary and selecting “Send A
Condolence” at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
