LCol Wesley Gordon McEwen, CD
January 10, 1930 – January 29, 2021
A graduate of Royal Roads Military College and Concordia University (Science), Wesley had a successful military career spanning 32 years, including piloting the de Havilland Vampire, the Canadair F-86 Sabre and finally the Canadair CF-104 Starfighter. Wesley completed numerous postings in Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany, including Commanding Officer CFS Sydney and Canadian Exchange Officer at both Air Support Command HQ RAF Upavon and also RAF Strike Command. After leaving the military, Wesley also had a successful civilian career in Emergency Preparedness at Transport Canada until his retirement in 1990 and received a Deputy Minister Commendation for Excellence.
It is with sadness that we announce that Wesley passed away in hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband of 69 years to Beulah Jessie MacDonald. Loving father of Tina (late Gordon Molsom), Cameron (Karen) and the late Graeme (Gregory Graveline).
Proud grandfather of Melissa, Benjamin and Connor and great grandfather of David, Henry, Peter, Georgiana, Lucy and Jasper.
Wesley is predeceased by his three brothers Garth, Lorne and Graeme.
For those who wish, please consider a memorial donation to the
Air Cadet League of Canada.
Due to current restrictions a Celebration of Wesley’s Life will be held by his family at a later date.
