It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Lawrence ‘Larry’ Maurice Grandahl on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 85 years. Larry was born in Preeceville, Saskatchewan in 1936 and was quite athletic in his younger years, often found playing baseball, or in the rink curling. Larry eventually ended up in High River; where he managed the Sunshine Gas Co-op, and where he met Donna. They married on March 1, 1996 and lived in Okotoks, until 2008; when they decided to continue their journey together in Eckville, Alberta. Donna and Larry had many interests that kept them busy during the year. One of their favourite activities was watching curling games, both live and on TV. One of Larry’s greatest loves, besides Donna and their family, was music. Those close to Donna and Larry knew that if they weren’t at home, they were likely jamming in a hall somewhere in Alberta, with their many friends. Larry will be dearly missed by all; as he was a gentle soul with many jokes and stories to tell. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna, his two sons, Gilbert and Bill; Donna’s four children, Sherry (Ron), Derrick (Terry), Deanna (Brian) and Bryan (Lucie); his fourteen grandchildren and his seven great grandchildren, whom he loved very much; as well as his brother, Olaf (Colleen). Larry’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Larry’s Life at the Friendship Centre, 5011 – 54 Avenue, Eckville, Alberta on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Musical instruments are encouraged; as we play some tunes and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Larry’s honor may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
