Obituary of Larry Wilcox
Formerly of St. Thomas, ON and Stephenville Crossing, NL, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, in his 79th year. Beloved husband for 56 years to Patricia “Pat” (née McTaggart) Wilcox. Dearly loved father of Karen Wilcox-Gorman (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Matthew Wilcox (Shiniece Griffin), and Emily Wilcox-Harwood (John Harwood). Loving great grandfather of Hayden, Lincoln, Jackson, Jayden, and Rowan. Dear brother of Rosalie Morrison, Mary Smoke, Donna MacDouell, late Brian Wilcox, and the late Cecil “Bud” Wilcox. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law, Jan Baughman-Wilcox. Also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families. Born in London, ON, August 10, 1943, he was a son of the late Cecil and Verlyn (née Dudney) Wilcox. Larry was a retired employee of Canadian Timken Ltd., St. Thomas. He was a member of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Stephenville, NL, where he sang in the choir, a former member of All Saints Anglican Church, Stephenville Crossing, NL, and formerly attended St. Hilda’s – St. Luke’s Anglican Church, St. Thomas. Larry was a former member of the Stephenville Lions Club, a Past President of the Alzheimer Society, St. Thomas, a former member of the Optimist Club of St. Thomas, and the Aylmer Gun Club. He was well known in the St. Thomas community for over 25 years as “Skippy the Clown.” Larry will be remembered for his radiant smile, hope in his heart, and a positive attitude.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. By invitation, a private service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at St. Hilda’s – St. Luke’s Anglican Church, followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue.
Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, attendance numbers will be restricted, physical distancing will be followed, and a properly worn mask or face covering is required.
Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
