Larry’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Frederick Bondaruk announce his passing on December 14, 2021 in his home at the age of 73.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his spouse of 48 years, Brenda Bondaruk, his three children, Corrie (Kris) Lochhead, Jeremy (Tina) Bondaruk, Jordan (Lori) Bondaruk, and his grandchildren, Jayme, Kiarra, and Cort Lochhead, Jaxson and Sawyer Bondaruk.
Larry was born on April 28, 1948 in Fairview, Alberta to parents Fred and Helen (Stelmaschuk) Bondaruk. Larry grew up in the Highland Park area west of Fairview alongside his sister Linda, cousins and many friends. He attended school at both the Highland Creek School and the Fairview High School. From a young age, Larry was an active community member. He enjoyed acting in plays and concerts, performing Ukrainian Dance, and playing hockey. His love for hockey continued into his teenage years where he played with the Fairview Elks. Following high school, Larry left for Calgary to attend SAIT. Here, not only did he get an education in business administration, but he became the captain of the SAIT Trojans hockey team. It was during this time that Larry met the love of his life, Brenda. Larry and Brenda were married in Calgary in June of 1973. Many lasting friendships and memories were made in Calgary. In 1976, Larry and Brenda returned to the Highland Park area to build their home, raise their family and farm. Larry farmed for most of his life as well as had several jobs such as school bus driver, grader operator and water truck driver. Larry continued to be involved in his community and enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, slo-pitch and hockey. Most of all, Larry enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. There wasn’t anywhere Larry went that he didn’t know someone. Larry will always be remembered as a big man, with a gentle soul, a great sense of humor and an amazing friend.
Larry is predeceased by his father, Frederick Bondaruk, mother, Helen Bondaruk and sister, Linda Bondaruk.
A time to remember the late Larry Bondaruk will be held January 8, 2022, 11:30 am at the Dunvegan Motor Inn in Fairview, Alberta
