Firmly grounded in Sikhism, our Mother celebrated her faith every opportunity she found. She studied Ghurbani and was able to use her knowledge to help her family and friends when needed. Our Mother also taught Special Education for many years at the Toronto District School Board which helped to establish our family in Canada. My parents were also travellers. Our Mother always appreciated the joy, beauty and vibrance of the world but she also witnessed the plight, struggle and needs of others. It is in this spirit that the family requests that volunteer work or donations be made to your local charities, in lieu of flowers, in honour of our Mother.
If you reside in the Toronto area, donations can be made at Renascent House, Jake’s House, Kids Sport Canada, Socks 4 Souls Canada etc. International donations to Africa Yoga Project based in Nairobi, Kenya can be made through their website.
