Obituary
Duivesteyn, Kryn “Brian” – Surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2021 at the age of 88, Kryn Duivesteyn, also known as Brian, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Beloved husband to Anna (Ans) for over 62 years. Cherished father of Cindy & Brent Farquhar, Anita & Jim Bartley, Harold & Ruby Duivesteyn, and Caroline Duivesteyn. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brendan (Alice) Farquhar, Andrew (Alexandra) Farquhar, Graham Farquhar, Michael Farquhar, Joshua (Melissa) Bartley, Julia (Dan) Benbow, Amy (Trevor) Gurney, Daniel (Alina) Duivesteyn, Timothy Duivesteyn, Lisa Duivesteyn, Erica (Alexander) Schuster, Lindsay (Risty) Klassen, Alexandra (Collin) Streicher. Kryn was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren and more on the way.
Lovingly remembered by sister Sharon (late William) Lenters, brother Anthony and his wife Carol, sister-in-law Atie (late Hielke) Zylstra, brother-in-law Chris and his wife Fran Streefkerk, and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Herman and Ann Duivesteyn, brother-in-law Johannas Streefkerk, and sister-in-law Alice Moes (Albers).
Kryn was born in The Hague in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he met Ans – the love of his life. He modelled hard work, kindness, and thankfulness in all areas of his life. The majority of his life was spent working in sales and production in the dairy industry including owning and operating his own business. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving school bus for Woodstock Christian School. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Woodstock for many years.
Kryn had a strong faith in God and a deep love and devotion to his family. Together with his wife Anna, they always opened their home for many family gatherings and good times together – memories that will be forever cherished by his family. His legacy of faith, trust, love and commitment, that was so evident in his life, will be forever treasured. Proverbs 3: 5-6
“Sweetheart, Dad, Grandpa, Opa, Papa – you will be deeply missed.”
The family would like to thank Dr. Andersen-Kay for her care and compassion, and Pastor Pete Burrill for his messages, love, and prayers.
Sadly, due to mandated government restrictions, there will only be a private family visitation, service, and internment. Internment to take place in the Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honour to Emmanuel Reformed Church, or Woodstock Christian School as arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock (519-539-0004).
