Kristine Lenora Beatty nee Jacobsen December 301927 April 10 2021

Kristine passed away on Saturday April 10, 2021, at the age of 93, with her three daughters, Tara, Sharon and Karen, by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Beatty (June 1986) and her beloved friend, Robert (Dec 2020).
Kristine’s passions in life were her family, including her parents Otto and Aagot Jacobsen, her dear siblings and their spouses who all predeceased her, her 3 children, her step-children, many grandchildren, many more great-grandchildren and even a few great-great-grandchildren. Her other great passion was music, which she spent her life making, teaching, leading, and enjoying.
She was born Dec 30, 1927 in Loreburn Saskatchewan and she and her twin brother Odin were the 4th and 5th children in the family. They grew up happily in Prince Albert SK where Kristine earned her ARCT in performance on piano. Her wonderful musical gifts were shared by many happy hours teaching piano and voice, teaching music in the elementary school in Comox BC, playing organ for church services, weddings, and funerals, and leading various choirs. She fell in love with her husband Earl, the owner of a music store in Saskatoon and married him in 1963, becoming an instant step mom and grandmother in the bargain. They had 3 children themselves and, in 1973 moved their young children to Vancouver Island, living on Denman Island, then Comox and finally, Victoria. Earl passed away in 1986, and Kristine continued to live in Victoria helping care for her daughter’s children, Kori, Alyson, Adam, Amy, Brendan, Rheya, Brynn, and Jensen, who all got the benefit of her loving presence in their lives on a frequent basis. She was an adoring and hands-on Grandma.
Kristine was known by all as a kind, generous and loving woman who will be greatly missed. She enjoyed nothing more than helping people, and was generous with her time and talents to do so. She had many friends that she drove to appointments, gave reflexology treatments to, and helped with shopping etc. She also led many choirs, from junior to senior groups, helping to send her love of music out to others like ripples in a pond. She also volunteered at a long-term care home, using puppets, music, movement and stories to entertain and delight for over 20 years after she retired from teaching.
She spent the last 5 years battling dementia with grace and courage and was cared for with kindness by the staff at the Glenshield and at Glenwarren Lodges. Especially during Covid restrictions, when her family could only visit her through the glass, it was a comfort to know that she was receiving such good care from the Glenwarren staff. The home remained Covid free.
The other great love of Kristine’s life was the Lutheran church family with whom she worshiped. Many who are still there have happy memories of time spent with Kristine in worship and song. She was also a long term member of the Sons of Norway Lodge in Victoria, exploring language, music, food and cultural heritage that came through both of her parents.
Mizpah Mom, until we meet again.
