While Dad lost his sight in 1999, he never lost sight of what was truly important. He was a loving husband, a devoted father and the best Pop ever. He loved his time working at CN and all the friends he made along the way.
Dad’s knowledge of St. John’s and Newfoundland were unmatched. He was a voracious reader and was able to connect most people with a family member that worked at the railway. Dad also had an uncanny ability to connect with people no matter where he went. If left alone, you’d always come back to find someone talking and having a laugh with him.
Most importantly, Dad was fiercely loyal. If he was in your corner, you had a friend for life. He would support you no matter what and passed this lesson onto his children and grandkids.
Dad left a special mark on all those he met. While he may have left us for now, he will never be forgotten. Rest easy Dad, the train has left the station one last time. Enjoy the ride.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10 a.m. from Mary Queen of the World Parish, with inurnment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
