Kevin Crawford
Jul 13, 1973 – Jun 27, 2021
Kevin James Crawford is survived by: His Mom Donna (Kevin) Heath, Dad Bryan (Gemma) Crawford, sisters Hazel and Rachel Rivera, his children Savannah (20), Sierra (18), Summer (16) and Jasper (13) as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and many people who loved him. Kevin is also predeceased by his daughter Justina and brother Lane.
Kevin was born and raised in Canmore, Alberta; a true valley boy.
He spent his younger days in Canmore playing in the creek with family and friends and later on in Crawford’s party pit and wreaking havoc around town with his group of buddies. After graduation, Kevin obtained his diploma in Recreation Facility Maintenance and worked in arenas all over southern Alberta and BC. It was in BC where he obtained his 5th Class Power Engineering certificate.
Anyone who knew Kevin would say he was very proud of his children and loved them very much. He made them laugh, defended them to no end and wanted the very best for them but mostly he wanted them to be happy and always celebrate the joy and laughter in life. Kevin’s other passion was being a volunteer fire fighter in the communities in which he resided. He volunteered for the communities of: Canmore, Cochrane, High River & Elkford. He also loved to play hockey, golf and hit the gym.
Kevin was always someone who loved to make others laugh and smile and would often crack a joke at the most inopportune times, but anyone who knew Kevin knew his heart was always in the right place. Unfortunately, on Sunday June 27, Kevin lost his battle with mental illness resulting in death by suicide. Some of Kevin’s final words were
“Instead of looking at death as something painful, awful and that’s all folks, look at it the way it should be looked at, something wonderful,
a family reunion and most importantly a time you get to meet your father, God”.
If you or someone you know is struggling with mental illness or is having thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to a friend, a loved one or if easier, a total stranger by contacting the Canada Suicide Prevention Service at 1.833.456.4566.
If anyone would like to make a donation in Kevin’s memory, his wishes were to support the Thumbs Up Foundation based out of Airdrie, AB at
www.thethumbsupfoundation.com
Their mission is to advocate positive change for mental health.
Please hug your loved ones and tell them how you are feeling.
The family hosted a Celebration of Life for Kevin
at the Canmore Ranch (across from the heliport)
on Tuesday, July 13 where friends were invited
to bring your “Kevin” stories to share.
In Kevin’s words: “Wear colorful clothing, and don’t be sad.”

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Kevin Crawford Jul 13 1973 Jun 27 2021..
Death notice for the town of: Canmore, Province: Alberta
My deepest heartfelt condolences to all of Kevin’s Family and Friends. He was one of the good guys who had much love for his family. May all the good time and laughs that you shared with him live on in your hearts forever. May Kevin finally rest in peace with God and watch over you all from above.
Kevin helped many people over the years and he had a true firefighters heart. Rest in peace my brother firefighter and know that you did an awesome job here on Earth. Wish you had gotten the help you so much needed. Flames are not the only thing that can take a brother firefighter out….
Send good light and love to all his family and friends.
Love Jan Morris
A Firefighter’s Prayer
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some live
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbour
And protect their property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My family, children and wife
