Obituary
BEEBE, Kerry Don – Born February 17, 1943, and Passed away November 7, 2021. Kerry was born in Vancouver to Frank and Vera Beebe. Kerry was a remarkable, generous man who was quick to lend a hand. He never wasted a single day, living life to the fullest, enjoying his racing, dancing, writing, and gardening. Kerry spent 57 years working in Histology. At that time, he also taught and wrote several papers that were printed in medical journals. Kerry started drag racing as soon as he got his driver’s license. He was a constant presence at Thunder Mountain and spent many of his last years on his “Scud Missile” salt flat car. His hobbies included model railroading, genealogy, and traveling. He is survived by his family: sisters, Merle and Marilynn; daughter, Kristen; son, Shawn; daughter (in-law), Keely, and his grandchildren Caden and Aylish. Kerry was predeceased in passing by his brother Irvine. Cremation arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, (250) 860-6440. ODE TO A BEEBE
There is a great tech named Kerry,
Who is distinguished by NOT being hairy,
He cuts so many blocks,
Paraffin piles to his socks!
But his spelling is something quite SCARY!
Immunostains are his game,
But, fixations his real claim to fame,
To xylene and alcohol
He has converted us all!
As long as we don’t hit the flame!
Estrogen receptors – he was one of the first
It replaced cytosol assay – which we cursed!
From far away he gets calls,
From labs that don’t have his b—s!
To imitate and do what he durst!
Well, today is your very last day,
Now you can do nothing but play!
No more planning and pacing,
Work schedules with racing
You can work on your motor all day!!
We know you’ll miss all of the jars,
Of small and large body parts,
Some in Carnoys – B5 –
Oops! That one was live!
Instead, you can race to the stars!!
The work you have done deserves a medal,
Leaving us with one question to settle …
With technology changing
And things re-arranging
Why leave now – when microtomes have a pedal??
