Kenneth William Cripps
1933-2021
Kenneth William Cripps, 87, passed into his Heavenly Home on
January 24, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Born above his
grandfather K. M. Steeves’ store in Moncton, he was the
oldest son of Henry and Marguerite (Steeves) Cripps. He was
predeceased by his wife, Olive (Russell) Cripps in 2013.
Ken’s career as an entrepreneur started as the
owner and operator of Ken’s Catering, where he was assisted
by his mom and sisters. While working, he enrolled in
teachers’ college, receiving his B.Ed. from Mount Allison
University, and he went on to become a teacher, vice-principal, and
later, principal of Bessborough School, and he retired as the
principal of East Dieppe School.
Ken was very active in sports, especially golf, and was a
longtime member of The Moncton Golf and Country Club. He was
the Co-Ordinator of the Moncton Mini Golf Tour for many years.
Ken leaves behind many cherished family members, including
sisters Noreen McQuinn of Riverview and Judy Whitney of Dallas,
Texas. He was predeceased by siblings Bob Cripps, Marilyn
(Cripps) Crossman, and Charlene (Cripps) Brewer. He will also be sadly
missed by longtime friends Alan Muir and Don MacDougall.
Arrangements are in the care of Cobb’s Funeral Home
and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview
(869-2007) with internment at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens, presided
over by Rev. Michael J. Budd, Emmanuel Baptist Church. At
Ken’s request, there will be no service. Donations
may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or a memorial of the
donor’s choice.
