Kenneth Roy Noskye
Kenneth “Ken” Roy Noskye, resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, AB, formerly of Saskatoon, SK, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at his home in Sturgeon Lake, at the age of 60 years.
He was born in Edson, AB, on February 24, 1960, and he grew up in the communities of Sturgeon Lake, Whitecourt, and Fox Creek, AB. Kenneth completed his education in the Edmonton Max where he accomplished his Red Seal certification in journalism. While he was incarcerated. He spent most of his time in Saskatoon as a journalist for many freelance newspapers such as the Prince Albert Daily Herald, Star Phoenix and The Saskatoon Express.
Ken embraced his Native Heritage doing cultural festivities like hunting, fishing, pow wows and much more. He was a big participant in Elder activities. You could always see him sitting on his porch drumming away and interacting with anyone passing by. He always had a story to tell.
He will be greatly missed by his father Nap Kiyawasew; aunt Edith (Mel) Murray; sisters: Delores Gosselin, Debbie (Chuck) Schmitt, Sharon (Jamie) Gay, Katie (Steve) Kiyawasew; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; as well as his family and friends in Saskatchewan.
Kenneth was predeceased by his grandparents: Lucy and Dennis Noskye, and Elizabeth and Alexi Kiyawasew; mother Katherine Kiyawasew (Harvey Contois); brothers: Sidney Hank Noskye, Warren Noskye, and Logan Kiyawasew; as well as best friend Clifford (his dog).
Memorial donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada – AB and NWT (3100 246 Stewart Green SW, Calgary, AB, T3H 3C8).
