Obituary
With his family by his side, Kenneth Raymond Fuller passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2021, at the age of 71, after a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). For those of us so fortunate to have had Ken in our lives, we will forever be blessed with memories of his loyalty, generosity and infectious laugh.
Ken was born on August 1st, 1949 in Edmonton, Alberta. He lived his entire life in Hinton. Ken was a parts man by trade and a businessman, owning and operating Hinton Automotive, Bumper to Bumper, Gasland and Mountain Chrysler. In 1969, Ken married the love of his life, Shirley Koberstein. Together they raised two children, Jody and Jason. Ken liked to spend his vacation time in the Shuswap with friends and family; boating, camping, playing cards and drinking white rum or Budweiser beer. He loved life and knew how to live it!
Ken’s other love was cars, he spent a lot of time restoring cars and helping others with their passion. If you were hot rodding a car, and needed a specific part or advice, quite often Ken Fuller was the man to see. Ken helped form the Yellowhead Racing Association. He spent many years dirt racing cars in Hinton and held the track record for a VERY long time. He also partnered with Dwight Norman, together they built a pavement oval track car that dominated many speedways in Western Canada. Later on in life Ken moved from four wheels to two wheels and found a love for Harley’s. He enjoyed trips with his buddies to Sturgis, as well as the BC Concrete ride.
Ken loved sports. He was a die-hard HAB fan and hockey fan in general. He spent many years supporting minor hockey in Hinton and was proud to sponsor the Bumper to Bumper Braves, who went on to win a provincial championship in the 80’s. He was also a huge Hinton Hawk and Junior B Hinton Cardinals fan and supporter. Ken was also an avid Edmonton Eskimo and NASCAR fan.
Ken will be profoundly missed by his children, Jody and Jason and their spouses, Dave and Deena. His spirit will live on in the lives of his four grandsons, Bryson, Jamie, Matt and Kent.
Ken was predeceased by his wife, Shirley, his parents Raymond and Blanche, as well as his brother Ron.
When we are able to gather again, there will be a celebration in honour of Ken’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Society of Alberta.
