Obituary
Kenneth L. Crossman
Sydney Mines
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, Kenneth Lewis Crossman, 59, on February 26, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ken passed away peacefully with his loving wife Christina who never left his side.
Born, June 13 1961 in Moncton, NB, Ken was predeceased by parents, George and Christina (Budd) Crossman and sister Susan in infancy.
For the past 15 years Ken worked for RST Industries as a commercial truck driver around Cape Breton Island. Ken was a lover of antique cars and this past year became the proud owner of a 1976 Dodge Dart Swinger, where he and brother in law and special friend Gordie Almon, spent many hours tinkering and planning its restoration in his garage. Along with working on his car, any given evening you may find Ken, with wife Christina and any friends who may have dropped by, having a game of darts or cards. He loved his garage. He was a volunteer with the North Sydney Minor Baseball league and a proud coach of the Phillies, especially coaching daughter Emily and stepson Ethan. On a summers eve you would find him at the ballfield teaching and sharing his love of the game.
Ken will be dearly missed by his loving wife Christina, his sons Matthew (Heidi) Liverpool, NS and Andrew (Cait) Moncton; his girls, Natalie, Jennifer (Richard) Vanessa (Travis) all of Moncton; Emily, Sydney and Crystal, Ottawa; stepchildren Courtney and Ethan, Sydney Mines; by his nine grandchildren Jasmine, Lucas, Desmond, Lennox, Jaxson, Marissa, James, Mason, Meah; his three step grandchildren Lodrick, Isabella, and Landon. Also surviving are brothers Mike (Rose) and Alan both of Moncton; Eric (Jana) Lethbridge, NL and sister Debbie (Frank) Moncton; several nieces and nephews; long-time friend and “brother of another mother” Pat Cormier, Elgin, NB and his mother-in-law Anne Almon.
Many thanks to the doctors and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Cancer Center and Hospice/Palliative care unit especially Susan and Amy, who were always there for both Ken and Christina and more recently, Dr. Burns and Holly for in home visits. Also, to all the VON nurses who provided in home care and support. All the family and friends for prayers and support throughout Ken’s illness.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes there will be no visitation and a funeral service will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
