Ken McCormack 2021

Obituary of Ken McCormack
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alton McCormack. Ken passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, April 23rd in his 68th year. Ken and his wife Helen shared 43 loving years together and he was a loyal and supportive husband who took pride in his family. Ken was a loving father to Leslie (Kevin) Saelzer and Stacey (Chris Hall), and an adored Papa to Augustus, Aubrey and Prudence. Ken dedicated his life to Helen, Stacey and Leslie, and his legacy is the loving family unit he created. As a father Ken was attentive, supportive, kind. He always had time to listen and never failed to give thoughtful advice. Ken could fix anything and was always the first person to show up with his tools after a trip to the hardware store. Ken had a strong work ethic and this was evident in everything he endeavored to do. Ken dedicated a significant amount of time to coaching and mentoring youth, which culminated in coaching the Wilfrid Laurier curling team at the World University Games in China. Whatever Ken did, he did it with passion and perseverance and his athletes greatly benefited from this ethic. He loved the thrill of competition, but he always competed with class and honesty. Ken was an avid curler and golfer, and he will be greatly missed in both communities. Ken had a strong sense of right and wrong and he never wavered, regardless of whether or not it was the popular opinion. Integrity and honor guided Ken’s actions in all aspects of his life. In his early thirties, Ken pivoted from his life as a farmer to starting and growing a small business which flourished over the course of 40 years. Besides providing a good life for his family, Ken’s primary focus was on the well-being of his clients. Ken’s favourite pastime was fishing at the cottage. In the early mornings and late evenings, Ken could always be found in his little yellow boat going after the ‘big one’. As the years went by he enjoyed the company of Kevin, Chris and Augustus while out on the lake. Ken loved being at the cottage and cherished spending time with his extended family, who will miss him greatly. Ken had a thirst for knowledge, and he was always up to date with current events, the latest technology and he loved a good book. Always a gracious host, Ken loved to welcome friends and family into his home (and his impeccably maintained backyard). Ken possessed quiet wisdom and a big heart, and he loved his wife, his girls and his grandchildren more than life.
Husband, Dad, and Papa. Ken will be forever missed.
A memorial service will be held at a time when Ken’s family and friends are able to come together to celebrate a life well lived. Please see below for a link to the memorial website that will go live Wednesday (April 28) at 12pm:
