Obituary of Kathleen Helen Brodhurst
BRODHURST – Kathleen H. (“Kay”) passed away peacefully, at the age of 90, on January 28, 2021 at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie, Ontario surrounded by members of her family. Kay was born in Port Colborne, Ontario on March 14, 1930. She was predeceased by parents, Francis (Dinty) Moore and Madeline Moore (nee, Neff), and her husband, Harry Brodhurst. She was also predeceased by her two dear siblings Marilyn Lannan and John (Jack) Moore. Kay is survived by her two loving sons, Joel and Todd as well as many dear nieces and nephews. Kay attended St. Michael’s Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto, Ontario and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1952. She was a wonderful nurse and was one of the very first nurses to work at Port Colborne General Hospital when it first opened in the 1950’s. She loved her nursing career. Kay was a devoted wife and mother. Following her retirement, she was a full-time care giver to her dear mother Madeline. Kay was the daughter of an Olympic silver medalist (her father Francis (Dinty) Moore was the goal tender for Team Canada in the 1936 Winter Olympics which were held in Germany). She was very proud of her parents. As per Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the current pandemic situation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Colborne, Ontario at a later date. Interment will follow at Morgan’s Point Cemetery, Wainfleet, Ontario. If so desired, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to any charity which supports individuals who are currently experiencing homelessness.
