Kathleen “Fleen” Helga O’Byrne (61) passed away suddenly at her home in Peterborough, Ontario on November 18, 2021.
Kathleen was born November 19, 1959 at the Sally Ann Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario to Helga “Mum” and Dermot “Big D” O’Byrne. Kathleen began her education at Mutchmore Public School in Ottawa. Her studies would take her coast-to-coast: Green Lake, QC; Bell’s Corners, Kanata, ON; Georgetown, ON; The Everdale Place (farm/school/community) Hillsburgh, ON; Vancouver, B.C and Sackville, NB. It was on the East Coast where she worked Lobster fishing. Kathleen was an accomplished artist, seamstress, gardener, cook, knitter, and interior decorator. She worked in England for a number of years in inshore fisheries, boat painting, repairs and interior decorating. Lately Kathleen worked with her cousin and dear friend Elayne in set design and construction in the film industry in Toronto, ON. Kathleen loved all living things and was the most generous soul, always caring for others. She is predeceased by her sister Helga “Huggie” whom she loved very much. She is survived by the love of her life Jason Vissers and their two cats Shadow and Gretsky and by her four loving brothers Michael, Derry, Sean and Joe. Fleen will be missed very much by a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of Life for Fleen will be held at WESTMOUNT BIBLE CHAPEL, 1150 Clonsillla Ave, Peterborough at 10:30am. Donations may be made to the Y.E.S. Shelter.
