Katherine “Eva” Gertridge
1931-2021
Katherine “Eva” Gertridge left this
world peacefully in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on
Monday, September 13, 2021, at the celebrated age of ninety.
Born in
Hillside, NS, she was a daughter of Rupert and May Boyles. Mom was
predeceased by Dad, Wilfred Gertridge, 12 brothers, one sister, a
granddaughter and a great-great-grandson. Mom lived in Gaspereau for
seventy-two years.
She is
survived by her children, Katheryn (John) Gillis, Susan (Garth) Levy,
Nancy Gertridge, Patricia Gertridge, Scott Gertridge and Jacqueline
(Dan) Reade; 46 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews. Out of her family of 14, she leaves one remaining
brother, Fraser Boyles of Trenton.
As a young
woman, she participated in sports and made time in her senior years to
join curling, bowling, seniors club (known for her Mrs. Santa
character) and she was a kitchen supporter to many a church
supper.
Thank you
for all the kind thoughts and special thanks to the faithful friends
who kept tabs on Mom. She mentioned the calls and visits
often.
Cremation
has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held in
the Gaspereau Cemetery. A video webcast of the service will be
available on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10
a.m.
Donations in
memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. For online
