Obituary of Katharina Warkentin
Katharina (Kay) Warkentin was born to David Klassen and Katharina Braun in the Village of Gnadental, Ukraine on the 14th of November, 1932 and died October 25, 2021 at Upper Canada Lodge in Niagara on the Lake. Katharina immigrated to Canada in 1947 with her mother the late Katharina Klassen, sister Jessie Klassen and brother Walter Klassen. Kay worked at Canada Hair Cloth and the Oban Inn. She was an active member of the St. Catharines United Mennonite Church.
Kay was a devoted mother to Arlene Unger (predeceased by husband Art and son Ronnie), David Warkentin (Maggie), Linda Warkentin-Bartoshewski (Dave KW), Cathy Hunt (Martin). Oma loved her grandchildren dearly Amanda, Jennifer, Bettina, Michael, Lisa, Tammi, Rebecca, Kaylen, Braden, Devon and Ashley and their families including many great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 28th, 2021 at St Catharines United Mennonite Church (335 Linwell Rd, St. Catharines, ON L2N 1T6) from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at 11:00 at St Catharines United Mennonite Church (335 Linwell Rd, St. Catharines, ON L2N 1T6) with interment to follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery.
