Bortscher, Katharina (nee Petsch):
Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Adam (1987). Loving mother of Inga (Terry) Collins and John (Deborah) Bortscher. Cherished Omi of Tara (Scott), Cory (Diane), Fr. Toby, Amanda (Paul), Brendan, Erin (Xenios), Rachel (Zack), Devin (Josie), Brandon, Mikayla and the late Jarrett and great Omi of Michael, Mark, Mary, Sydney, Ryan, Mariah, Chuck, Luke, Jasmine, Parker, Ava, Penelope, Simona and Miles. Predeceased by her parents, Johann and Anna Marie and her brothers, John (Katie) and Franz. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
She was a life-long member of the St. Mary’s German congregation where she helped out and will be especially remembered for the Christmas Bazar which her grandchildren attended. She loved to spend time with all of her family and taught us all how to make Kipfel and homemade noodles. She enjoyed travelling, especially when she could visit her family in Edmonton. She was the angel among us and the time we had with her was a gift.
Katharina’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 56 Duke St W, Kitchener. Those wishing to attend her visitation and Funeral Mass would you please RSVP your attendance through the funeral home website.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church or the Autism Society Canada would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
