Katelyn Leyser 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Katelyn E. Leyser announces her passing on Monday December 13, 2021, with her partner by her side at the age of 33.
Katelyn was born December 8, 1988, in St Mary’s and spend her early years in Tavistock playing many sports, especially hockey, which was her passion. She attended University of Ottawa and obtained a teaching degree, which she then used to travel to London (UK) to pursue a teaching career. While in the UK, she met her wife Nolwenn whom she married on the November 23, 2015. Katelyn and Nolwenn moved to Canada and resided in Stratford.
Katelyn is survived by her wife Nolwenn Keraval, her father Jim Leyser (Tavistock), her sister Lauren Leyser (London, UK), her mother-in-law Annick Keraval (France) and her brother and sister-in-law Stephane and Nelly Keraval (France). She is also survived by her grandmother Francis Leyser (Stratford).
She was predeceased by her mother Ruth (Ritsma) Leyser and father-in-law Rogers Keraval.
She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
ALS (Lou Gehrig disease) has taken a tremendous toll on Katelyn family. Not only did this cruel disease claim Katelyn, it shortened the life of her Mother in 2007, claimed her Grandmother Trienje, aunts and uncles: Tammy, Freda, Ralph, Bill and her cousin Durwin .
Katelyn’s only wish even after being diagnosed with ALS was that no one else would have to endure this cruel disease. We should like to thank Dr. Christen Shoesmith (University of London Hospital), Dr. Karen Fryer and nurses Denise Martins and Young Mee.
A private Family service will be held on January 2, 2022.
As expression of sympathy, memorial donation may be made to ALS Society of Canada through the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St Stratford. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
