Lehmacher, Karl:
October 26, 1940 – August 13, 2021
After a brief battle with cancer, Karl Lehmacher passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Emily for 52 years. Devoted father of Alex and Bonnie (Mike) and proud grandfather of Brandon and Karlie. He will be greatly missed by his surviving siblings, Rudi and Margaret, and his numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He will be fondly remembered by his many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Karl lived in Hardetschleg, Germany, till 1966 when he immigrated to Canada. He worked as a mechanic and retired from Kitchener Transit. He was a dedicated family man with a permanent smile, a kind heart and an infectious chuckle. An artful handyman, he was admired for his precision. His love of a good game of backgammon was equaled only by his passion for a cold glass of beer. He is also remembered for his barbecue skills exhibited especially at the annual Greek Food Festival.
Karl’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 am, at the Sts Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 527 Bridgeport Road, Kitchener. Interment at Parkview Cemetery. Relatives and friends wishing to attend please RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling, 519-749-8467.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sts Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church (cards available at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener).
Special thank you to Dr. Kilmurry, Dr. Yew and his palliative care nurse, Vanessa.
Karl’s parting request is that those attending his funeral do not wear black.
