Obituary
DUNFORD, Karl Ingram: Peacefully at Centennial Place, Millbrook on Sunday, November 14th, 2021 in his 87th year. Karl was born March 21, 1935 8:00pm on the family farm in N. Monaghan Township, the youngest child of Oscar James Dunford and Eleanor Luella Knox, with brothers Stanley, Milton, William; sisters Flora, Mina, Mary, Edna and Ila, all predeceased. He went to Elmdale Public School and started working at sixteen on a chicken farm. He drove a livestock truck and then worked in construction. He worked at a sawmill for 13 years then joined his brothers in the sand and gravel business. When they sold to Gormley, he worked for them in Toronto. He retired from there in 2000 but continued to do odd construction jobs for a few years. He married Donna Marlene Hayes August 1959 and lived in the Dunford Home Apartment for a while and a couple of others before buying their home in Lang, October 1964. Their daughter Melanie was born August 12, 1971 and Monica August 1, 1976. And now there are four grandchildren. During his lifetime, Karl liked to tinker and build things. He also loved to play cards and in his later years he took to reading. In April 2013, Karl and Donna sold their home and moved to Keene, to the Seniors’ Home, Monaghan Court. Visitation at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Road, on Friday, November 19th, 2021 from 10:30 am to 11:30am followed by a Memorial Service in the Highland Chapel at 12:00pm. Registration is not required for the visitation but due to limited space, those wishing to attend the funeral service must pre-register on Karl’s tribute page on the Highland website. Proof of double vaccination and photo ID is also required for those attending the service which will allow full capacity at the funeral home. Masks or face coverings are mandatory. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the service to ensure a timely entry to the chapel. Those not able to attend the service may watch the service live streamed by clicking the link on Karl’s tribute page on the Highland website.
