Obituary of Karen Kirby
KIRBY, Karen Anne (nee Slaght, Smith)…
After a brief illness, Karen Anne Kirby (nee Slaght, Smith) passed away on November 10, 2021 at Chatham-Kent Hospital in Chatham at the age of 78.
Beloved wife of the late Clifford Smith (1989) and the late John Kirby (2021)
Step mother to Terry (Smith) Rhodes, Grant (Betty) Kirby and Graham (Lia) Kirby
Step-grandmother to Colin Christmas, Lauren (Chris) Rhodes, Chad (Heather) Kirby, Kirsten Kirby, Darren (Debbie) Kirby, Crystal (Chris) Kirby, Garrett Kirby, Taylor Kirby, Cassia Kirby and Briana Kirby.
Step-great-grandmother to Connor, Bradley, Elizabeth, Cole, Payton, Dakota, David, Danica, Isabella, Corrina and Jackson.
Sister to Candice (Gary) Risdale, Carri (Peter Baker) Burk and Martyn (Janet) Burk.
Predeceased by parents Vera and Cecil Burk and Jack Slaght, sisters Sharon Paddock (1995) and Judith Piper (1974) and in-laws Gwendolyne and Orville Gold.
Will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Park Street Place for their help with both Karen and her late husband John. They would also like to thank nurses Makenna, Ryanne and Melissa at the Stroke Unit-CHKA for their assistance.
A private family service will take place with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
Donations in memory of Karen may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or PAWR.
