In Celebration of
Karen Jensen
December 11, 1967 –
October 21, 2021
Karen Jensen, spouse of Stéphane Lord, passed away on October 21st 2021 (Jewish General Hospital) after a year long battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Marie Jacqueline Lucienne Masse and John Norgard Jensen (2014). She leaves in mourning her 3 siblings, John (Jocelyn), Michael (Connor, Joshua and Shelby) and Cheryl (Henry), her brother and sister in law Martin & Sophie along with her three nephews (Carl-Frederic, Maxence and Danaël).
After studying at St-Clair College and Windsor University, Karen held various positions in the Financial Services industry. Her first role was in Fixed Income operations with Richardson Greenshields (1991-96), then as Portfolio administrator/Trader to the Bond Manager with Marquest Investment Counsel (1996-00). She moved to Montréal in September 2000 to join her spouse Stéphane and start a new position with Standard Life, eventually moving to their Investment Division. When Manulife bought Standard Life Canada in 2014, she became Manager, Data Management, Investment Division. Her last 2 years were spent as a Business Analyst support Manager.
Karen was highly respected by management and her peers for her hard work, dedication and loyalty. She never feared tackling on big projects, taking pride in their completion.
Karen was honoured in 2018 as one of the top achievers from around the world, earning Stars of Excellence, Manulife’s premier employee recognition program.
Behind her shy and quiet nature, Karen hid her inner mental strength and resilience very well. She also had an adventurous side, always willing to try a new experience.
She was an avid reader, using books primarily as an escape but also as a way to develop her imagination. Listening to music was a big part of her daily life. She enjoyed cooking, always going the extra mile to please friends or family when they came over.
She loved to watch sports (football, basketball, tennis and Formula One) and attended many events over the years. She was highly knowledgeable and her passion resonated, she always wanted her favourites to win.
Karen was a fun travel partner. Her last 3 trips stood out as her most memorable ones: South Africa (2017) for it’s wilderness and highly diversified entertainment possibilities, Switzerland (2018) for it’s tall mountains & exciting outdoors experiences and Scotland (2019) for hiking, discovering scotch and the beauty of the landscape.
Karen was a wonderful life partner. She was smart, kind and loving. She had a beautiful smile, loved to laugh and had the most beautiful eyes. She was 53 years old.
Stéphane will welcome friends and family on Saturday November 27 2021 between 11H to 14H at the Funeral Complex of Cimetière Mont-Royal, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, H2V 2P9, 514-279-6540, www.cimetieremontroyal.com.
