June Ada Laughren (Markwick)
June passed away peacefully at the Osgoode Care Centre, on Wednesday March 3, 2021, at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife for 50 years of the late John Gerald Laughren and her second husband the late Ivan Smith. Loving mother of Darlene Cooney (Peter), Brenda Cooney (Paul) and Joanne Roberts (Jay). Cherished Nanny of Norman (Isabelle), Tom (Melanie), Christine (Fred) and Tammy (Fern). Great Nanny of Shauna, Mathias, Melyssa, Hailey, Brayden, Samuel, Jesse, Rylie, Ryder, Auston, Alexy, Tristan, Nathan and the late Brady Bear. Predeceased by her sisters Eleanor (Lorne Paquin), Beverley (Dick Law), and her sister-in-law Audrey Markwick. June will be sadly missed by her brother Donald Markwick (Reta), along with several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of the Osgoode Care Centre and Dr. Donald Merrett for their wonderful care and compassion. Family and friends will be invited to the Merrickville Union Cemetery for a Grave-side Service and burial in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in June’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation.

As her smile and giggle was so special not to forget,
Such a lady she was
She’d put on her lipstick so perfect so precise not a mirror in sight,
Those eyes they’d twinkle and smile with delight,
You see her life, this gals life
From her children to great
She was loved
She was cherished
She was the brightest light
Now this gal was a special gal
To all those who knew her,
when and even then everything else would fail her
They’d say those eyes her eyes
you would know they would know she was happy to see them smile,
This light this bright light is now a special light, a memory of a gal that will be cherished forever
This gal this special gal was to me my special light that shined so bright I called her my nanny
