Julia Ellen (Knox) Niles
1948 – 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Julia Niles announce her peaceful passing on February 7th, 2021 at the extremely comfortable, Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She was born in Moncton, NB on November 17, 1948. The daughter of Douglas and Euella (McFee) Knox. A true maritimer, she was raised in Rexton NB, Hunter River, PEI and Clark’s Harbour NS.
Once she started her adult life in Saint John NB working at the Royal Bank of Canada and met her lifelong friend, Janet Ross and they remained friends all these years.
She met Norman and soon after they were married, she raised her family in Rothesay NB. In 1976, she started selling Avon and never looked back. She worked hard and eventually became the Top Seller in New Brunswick for the latter part of her career and won many accolades. She was also active with Scouts and Girl Guides of Canada, sang with the Seabells and volunteering at her children’s and grandchildren’s schools wherever there was a need or opportunity.
She spent a nice portion of her life travelling the globe from all over Canada to Mexico to England. She really enjoyed spending her initial retirement years being a snowbird and spending almost 6 months of the year in Florida with a long-term friend, Frank Withers.
Most recently, she moved to Winnipeg to live with her daughter, Kathleen and help with caring and getting to know her grandkids. While in Winnipeg, MB, she was also incredibly involved with the United Church of Meadowood. She made many friends there and many good memories. Especially, Garry Hyde. He was a close companion and made her very happy, accompanying her to dinners and the movie theatre.
In the fall of 2020, she fell ill and eventually was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer for which there was no treatment.
