Juanita’s Obituary
Born and raised in Wolfville, Juanita took care of her paternal grandmother from whom she got her feisty personality. Juanita was an avid wrestling fan, and when she was 19, turned down the offer to train as a wrestler to fulfill a promise to her grandmother to “get her grade 12”. Proving she was a woman who never broke a promise.
Everything happens for a reason. While carrying out her word, she met the love of her life Allen at Kingstec. Together, they raised 3 children on the Pierce family farm in Kingston, where Juanita lived the rest of her days. She was a strong, and hardworking woman who worked beside her husband until his sudden passing in 1991.
Juanita was very proud of her time as a farmer, and always had a story to tell. She was happiest when she could make someone laugh and had a goal to make at least one person laugh each day. She loved animals and seeing the many wildlife that surrounded her beloved home. (Although she didn’t have much of a fondness for the pigeons that nested across the road a few years back). Juanita loved big trucks and was well known by many of the good ol’ boys as Ma. She loved them all and accepted them unconditionally as her own. She was so proud of her daughter, Sharon, whom she loved so very much. They were best friends and were by each other’s side always.
She also loved her son, Joey. She was proud of him and looked for him constantly in his work truck when she was out and about. Juanita had a special place in her heart for her son-in-law Kevin. They carried on all the time lovingly calling each other “whipper snipper” and “the old bat”. Kevin, along with Sharon took care of her for the past 12 years. They held her in their arms, in her home, until she went to be with her husband.
It takes a village, and Juanita had many VON CCAs and nurses whom she cared for deeply and was thankful for their services. Also, many doctors and hospital staff at various hospitals through the years. She attended VON adult day program, from which she got much delight and made happy memories during the last few years.
Keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation and no funeral. In her words: “if they can’t see me when I’m alive **** ‘em when I’m dead” That just made you laugh didn’t it? Then her day is complete. Sharon and Kevin would like to extend the highest gratitude to all the health care staff who helped Juanita through the years as well as the palliative team and Middleton Funeral Home who helped them carry out Juanita’s wish to pass at home. Arrangement have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St. toll free 1-855-825-3448.
