The family announces with great sorrow, her death at the Golden Manor on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Albert (Bert) Schaffer in 2017. Dear mother of Kim and Tracey Schaffer both of Timmins. Loving grandmother of Cathryn Paul. Dear sister of Ken Morton (Anita) of Oakville. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law Marjorie Morton and Marion Schaffer, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents, James & Josephine Morton, brother Ross Morton, brothers-in-law Lewis and Bob Schaffer and sister-in-law Julie Schaffer. Joyce began working at a young age as a bank teller for the Bank of Montreal. She later became a bookkeeper for Timmins Stationery and then for Community Living Timmins where she retired. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Gillies for her exceptional care over the years as well as to the staff of the Golden Manor, especially for their compassion during Joyce’s final days. Due to the current pandemic and its restrictions, the family have decided to have a celebration of Joyce’s life at a later date. Remembrance donations to the Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine District would be greatly appreciated.
