Joyce Mary Darrach October 25th 1928 November 20th 2021

Joyce Mary Darrach was born in Sarnia on October 25, 1928 and passed from this earth on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Her parents were Malcolm Graham Fisher and Leota Chambers Fisher. Joyce was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Fisher, and one sister, Gloria Angove. She attended elementary school at Johnson Memorial and then went on to high school at SCITS (Sarnia Collegiate Institute & Technical School). She graduated from there in 1945. After graduation, Joyce worked at the Bank of Montreal as a secretary for a few years. Following this she then went to work at Imperial Oil in the same capacity. Joyce was united in marriage to James Allen Darrach on July 14, 1951. To this union two sons were born: James Scott and Mark Allen. She then left the work force to stay home and help raise her children. When her children were older, she returned to work at Esso Chemical until she retired in 1986. Joyce was an active and long time member of the Community of Christ Church. She taught Sunday School classes at the kindergarten level and later on at the Adult level. She later served as Treasurer for the church as well. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. They spent 27 years as “Snowbirds” in their “Doll House” in Ft. Myers, Florida where they made many friends and had wonderful times. Joyce also maintained her ties with her coworkers from her years working at Esso and had continued to meet on a regular basis for the lunch with the “Esso” girls. After her retirement, she also volunteered at the Canadian Cancer Society. Joyce is survived by her husband, James “Jim”, and her two sons: Scott (wife Dolores) and Mark (wife Lydia). Survivors also include four granddaughters: Rachael Weldon, Kristen Darrach, Marlee Darrach, and Emma Darrach, two grandsons: Jason (Andrea) West, and Travis (Tammy) West, four great-grandsons, Will Muller, Logan West, Ethan West, and Rylan West, and one great-granddaughter, Jade West. In addition to her immediate family, Joyce is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends. Services for Joyce will be held at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit (cheques mailed to the funeral home or made online, please).
