Obituary of Joseph Mino
MINO. William Joseph – Peacefully with his family by his side, Joseph Mino died at Afton Park Place on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Pauline (nee Turner) for 55 years. Loving father of Rhonda Melanson & her husband Don, Sarnia. Cherished grandfather of Scott, Noah and Madelyn. Dear brother of John Mino (Carole) Indiana, Anne Luciantonio and Elizabeth Teft (Wayne) all of Sarnia. Brother-in-law of Marion Mino. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Paul & Helen Mino and siblings; Paul Mino, Mary Gagnon (Larry) and brother-in-law Leo Lucintonio.
Joseph was born and raised in Sarnia, attending Our Lady Of Mercy School and St. Patrick’s High School. In 1957, he began working as a letter carrier for Canada Post, walking the equivalent of three laps around the world during his 41 years of employment before retiring in 1998. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Benedict’s Church where he served as an usher a Eucharistic Minister and was a fourth degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus. Joseph loved to garden, dog-walk, strike up conversations with people (everywhere he went, he knew someone), read his newspaper and there was always time for a cup of coffee. He played a mean game of euchre, cribbage and Pepper, and with his wife, Pauline, organized card nights at both St. Benedict’s Church and the Strangway Centre For Adults. He helped his wife babysit his three adored grandchildren and was a huge part of their lives. In his last years, he lived at Afton Park Place where he was loved by all.
